Wayne answered the proposed catalogue showdown with praise for his fellow Louisiana rapper, not a battle announcement.
Lil Wayne has responded to Boosie BadAzz’s Verzuz challenge by giving him his flowers. Speaking on the October 20 episode of In the Bayou, Wayne acknowledged the challenge and said he could not beat Boosie in the proposed matchup.
The conversation followed a clip in which Boosie discussed going 20 songs against another rapper and welcomed Wayne’s name as a possible opponent. As XXL reports, Wayne confirmed that he had seen the video when the podcast hosts brought it up.
“You got me, bro,” Wayne said during his response, before adding, “Shout-out to Boosie, man.” His answer focused on respect for Boosie rather than a proposed setlist, date or venue, and the exchange did not establish a scheduled Verzuz event.
Tyrann Mathieu and Tyrell McCall hosted the conversation, which runs 79 minutes and was produced by The 33rd Team. The Boosie discussion begins around the 22-minute mark, within a longer interview covering Wayne’s upbringing, recording habits and career.
Elsewhere in the episode, Wayne revisits the Cash Money and Hot Boys years, including the artists he studied as his own identity developed. He also discusses building Young Money with Drake and Nicki Minaj, placing the Boosie exchange inside a broader conversation about the people and scenes that shaped him.
Football is another thread, with Wayne talking about LSU and his long-standing attachment to the Green Bay Packers. That connection recently surfaced in his music through “Special Ops,” his Packers anthem, making the sports discussion a continuation of an established part of his public life.
