Lil Uzi Vert Says Hes Quitting Music

Is Lil Uzi Vert hanging up the mic?

The “XO Tour Llif3” rapper unexpectedly announced that he is “done with music.” Taking to Instagram Stories on Friday (Jan. 11), Uzi thanked his fans for their support before making the surprise announcement.

“I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supporters but I’m done with music,” wrote Uzi. “I deleted everything. I wanna be normal … I wanna wake up in 2013.”

He added, “Thank you love you” and “You are free.”

Lil Uzi Vert Says Hes Quitting Music

The announcement comes as Uzi was readying his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Eternal Atake, which was expected to be released this year.

The Philly rapper had been teasing the project throughout 2018. During his “Lil Uzi Vert & Friends” concert in his hometown last month, Uzi announced that the album was finished and pending release.

“I know y’all wondering when I’ma drop my album. I’m finally done with that joint,” said Uzi, who also debuted a new song from the project.

In August 2017, Uzi released his debut album Luv Is Rage 2, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the 6x platinum hit “XO TOUR Llif3.”
