Made between the UK and New Zealand, Tru:FRAZ’s 16-track debut turns years of diary entries and lived experience into an independently shaped hip-hop project.
Tru:FRAZ has released Sesh Fiend Confession Tape, a debut album with a history stretching across two countries and several versions of the artist himself. Out since September 30, 2026, the 16-track project brings together underground hip-hop, boom bap and an autobiographical approach that leaves room for both difficult reflection and dark humour.
The album began taking shape in the UK before following him into a different chapter in New Zealand, where Queenstown became a second home. After returning to the UK at the end of 2025, he completed the record in 2026, drawing those experiences together through his own home-studio setup. That hands-on process gives the release a personal history beyond its lyrics: he carried the work with him as his circumstances changed.
Many of the songs started as diary entries, written as a way to process what was happening around him. Over time, those individual accounts became connected chapters dealing with partying, addiction, relationships, grief and self-destructive behaviour. The confession-tape concept gave those experiences a shared form while preserving the humour that was also part of the period.
Three identities help explain that perspective: Fraser, Fraz and Frazzle. Fraser represents the person underneath the story, Fraz is the artist making sense of it, and Frazzle is the side of him responsible for much of the chaos. His recurring phrase, “detox to retox,” captures the cycle he has chosen to examine, giving the album a clear organising idea without pretending that lived experience follows a tidy path.
The project’s musical reference points come from the UK underground, including The Four Owls, Split Prophets, Task Force and Contact Play, alongside formative influences Eminem, Biggie and Wu-Tang. Production comes from MANUEL, Lethal Needle, Daga, DUX, Balance Cooper, Hidden Stash and 3am. Those credits place the album within a tradition he has followed closely while keeping his own experiences at the centre of the writing.
His involvement also extends to the artwork, visuals and creative direction, with Tru:FRAZ editing his own videos. “Where U Been?”, his first proper single after his earlier SoundCloud releases, offers a particularly personal example: he edited the video using footage from Queenstown, the cliffs of Portugal and underneath the M40 near Uxbridge. The locations introduce an artist shaped by movement between places, while his hands-on role keeps the presentation closely connected to the person telling the story.
With Sesh Fiend Confession Tape now released, Tru:FRAZ has brought that self-directed work into a full-length statement. The achievement lies in giving scattered memories, unfinished thoughts and contrasting sides of himself a coherent home. His willingness to take ownership of the writing and the wider creative process makes this debut a substantial milestone in an independent journey.
