Rising hip hop artist Trose Kelma has officially unveiled his latest single, Sinners, a reflective release that blends hip hop and rap with rich Afro fusion influences. Released on February 27, 2026, the track offers an honest exploration of vulnerability, faith, and human imperfection, delivering a grounded and humbling listening experience that showcases the artist’s emotional depth and evolving sound.
Trose Kelma sharpens his artistic identity on Sinners, crafting a piece that values emotional weight over spectacle and presence over noise. The record moves with quiet confidence, pairing reflective lyricism with a rhythm that feels rooted and intentional, allowing every line to settle rather than rush past the listener. There is a maturity in how the vocals sit within the beat, showing restraint, focus, and a clear understanding of balance that many emerging acts struggle to achieve. Instead of chasing trends, the song leans into honesty and atmosphere, creating an experience that resonates long after it ends. This release reinforces Trose Kelma as an artist driven by substance, capable of delivering thoughtful hip hop that feels authentic, immersive, and undeniably purposeful.
The spark for Sinners ignited in the studio when the engineer unveiled the instrumental, its producer tag zena echoing through the speakers. Trose Kelma’s cousin, singer Ceasar, misheard it as “sinner,” and the hook materialised in under 10 minutes, a testament to the beat’s immediate pull. The track evokes a vulnerable, humbling atmosphere, steering clear of overly preachy tones while weaving in subtle religious threads, such as prayers. It candidly acknowledges daily flaws yet affirms that triumphs stem from a higher power, creating a relatable narrative for anyone navigating life’s contradictions.
Recording unfolded seamlessly on a late Friday night at collaborator Cortext’s home studio. Ceasar mumbled the hook, crafting its words swiftly, while Trose Kelma penned a concise verse and Cortext delivered his through freestyle. Initially a demo, the track evolved when the team reconvened a month later, polishing it into a compelling final form.
Trose Kelma, a South Sudanese artist by birth who migrated to Australia at the age of 10, began his musical odyssey in 2009/2010, honing his craft with makeshift tools like an Xbox 360 microphone headset. He experimented with software such as GarageBand before mastering FL Studio through late-night YouTube tutorials, even on school nights. His debut tape landed on SoundCloud years later, accompanied by freestyles shared on Facebook. Specialising in rap and hip-hop, often dubbed conscious rap by fans, Trose Kelma draws inspiration from icons like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Rick Ross and The Clipse.
As a diaspora artist, Trose Kelma is planting his feet firmly in the scene to showcase the music and lifestyle of a strong African/Australian community in Perth that the world may not have heard or seen. Everything has its stages or phases, and he aims to give the world a peek into the black cultural side of Australia, its art, music, and culture that has developed throughout the years.
The artist’s moniker emerged from his admiration for Rick Ross; a colleague nicknamed him Trose, and he devised Kelma by reversing and tweaking Malek. A pinnacle moment came in 2022, when Trose Kelma and Ceasar sold out their largest show in Perth, Western Australia; this surge of community support remains a career highlight. Echoing a cherished Kendrick Lamar sentiment, “Life will put many red lights in front of you but sometimes we must push on the gas and trust god,” Trose Kelma continues to forge ahead with authenticity and grit.
