Stephen Curry did not miss a shot, but Golden State’s first win of the season also belonged to a rookie who supplied its biggest scoring total.
Stephen Curry delivered 24 points on 8-for-8 shooting as the Golden State Warriors beat Denver 134-114 on October 26. Yaxel Lendeborg added 31 points and 12 rebounds, pairing the veteran’s precision with a productive night from the newcomer.
Curry’s line was spotless across every shooting category. He made all three of his attempts from beyond the arc and went 5-for-5 at the free-throw line, turning eight field-goal attempts into an unusually efficient scoring night.
The separation came after halftime, when Curry scored 17 points in the third quarter. Golden State won the period 40-28, expanding a four-point halftime advantage into a 100-84 lead heading into the fourth.
Lendeborg gave the Warriors a second major source of offense rather than leaving the game entirely on Curry’s shoulders. His 31-point, 12-rebound double-double led Golden State in scoring, while Brandin Podziemski contributed another 18 points.
The Nuggets received 21 points from DeMar DeRozan and 19 apiece from Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, according to the game report. Jokić also recorded 11 assists, but Denver could not erase the gap that opened during Golden State’s third-quarter surge.
The final margin reflected more than one hot shooting spell: Golden State also outscored Denver 34-30 in the fourth. Curry supplied the rare perfect line, while Lendeborg’s larger scoring total made this a shared headline for the Warriors.
