OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Rising Omaha artist QUEZO, born Marquez, is building his music career on perseverance, self-reflection and a determination to turn personal struggles into a message that resonates far beyond his hometown.
Known by the nickname “The Chosen One,” QUEZO describes himself as an underdog with a mission to be heard around the world. While many artists focus on fame or financial success, he says his ambitions run deeper.
“I want to influence others worldwide and become the best version of myself while taking care of my family so we can be good for life,” he said.
His story is rooted in experiences that shaped both his outlook and his music. QUEZO says he often gave everything he could to people around him, even when that effort was not returned.
“I’ve always had a big heart,” he said. “I was taking risks to make sure people ate, giving them my last and always wanting to do good and be great.”
Those experiences, combined with feelings of being misunderstood, became fuel for his artistic journey. He says seeing relationships change and witnessing envy from others motivated him to continue pushing forward.
Music, however, was always the destination.
“What got me into the music industry was honestly my passion for music and the impact I want to have globally,” QUEZO said. “It’s deeper than just money to me. It’s about longevity and change.”
The road has not been without challenges. QUEZO has faced depression, anxiety, trust issues, anger issues and the grief that followed the loss of loved ones. Rather than allowing those struggles to define him, he turned to faith, patience and music as outlets for healing.
“I take life day by day,” he said. “I give it to the Lord while still working on myself. Putting it into my music became my therapy.”
Despite growing momentum, QUEZO remains unsatisfied with his accomplishments so far. Asked about his biggest achievement, he said he believes there is still work to be done.
“I need to do more,” he said. “The job isn’t finished.”
That mindset is reflected in his latest release, “SLEEPER’S DELIGHT,” an album he believes showcases both his versatility and artistic growth. Available now on all major streaming platforms, the project features 20 tracks and no guest appearances.
“It’s all me,” QUEZO said. “Different flows, different pockets and different vibes.”
The album serves as both a personal statement and a reflection of his upbringing. Through the project, listeners hear the experiences, hardships and ambitions that have shaped him into the artist he is today.
Looking ahead, QUEZO envisions himself making major moves in the music industry, from performing on larger stages to expanding his brand through merchandise and continued creative development.
“I want to take my career to the next level,” he said. “Even if I’m still grinding, I’ll be putting more effort into my craft and doing things behind the scenes to make the big spark happen.”
His ultimate goal is to establish a lane entirely his own.
“I want to be the best versatile artist I can be,” QUEZO said. “I want my sound to be different, smooth and special.”
For now, the Omaha native is focused on building momentum around “SLEEPER’S DELIGHT” while continuing to share the story that inspired it — one of resilience, growth and a belief that bigger opportunities are still ahead.
