Kusho, known on Instagram as @mind0fthastreets, was raised in Acres Homes in Houston, Texas, and has stayed rooted there ever since. He began making music at 13 back in 2018, inspired by the sounds of Lil Durk, Rylo Rodriguez, and NoCap, as well as some of his own friends who were rapping at the time.
His music blends hip hop and R&B, carrying influences from the artists he grew up listening to. Though he does not play instruments, his strength lies in his ability to channel raw experiences into his lyrics, creating songs that speak from the heart.
The road to music was not an easy one. Life’s struggles financially and physically made it hard for him to focus fully. He recorded often at 13 but did not officially begin releasing until later. At 16, he was incarcerated in juvenile prison from 2022 to 2024. After his release, consistency was still difficult, though he did drop a video titled Years Go By. It was in January 2025 that Kusho truly committed to his craft, putting his full energy into releasing music across Instagram and YouTube. Since then, he has built momentum with seven music videos, an EP titled Until Tha Tape released in February 2025, and a mixtape titled Whatever Come Wit It dropped on August 15, 2025.
Among his most memorable moments so far was performing his first show in February 2025 and celebrating his birthday on August 4 by shooting three music videos in South Padre. These milestones marked turning points, showing him that the grind and sacrifices were paying off.
What’s next for Kusho?
He does not currently have projects in progress, but fans can look forward to his upcoming release Blurry Silhouettes, a love song paired with a visual that he hopes will show another side of his artistry. Kusho has lived through obstacles that could have stopped him, but instead they shaped his story, and now he is determined to keep pushing forward and let his voice be heard.
