What is your name and what city do you rep?
Kadiz, out of Columbus, Ohio
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My latest release is called “Medusa’s Son.” I wanted to make something dark, but fast paced, like deep dance music (not Disco,) if that’s possible, lol.
What is unique about you and your music?
I’m an artist that’s driven by creating great art opposed to using it for a check. Yea, I’d like to make a living making music, however, the music is more important than the bag.
What shaped your music?
Life. My music is solely based on my experiences throughout the course of my life. The things I’ve seen, places I’ve gone, things I felt.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I honestly never seen me doing anything different. It’s always been the music.
What type of music do you listen to?
Usually R&B, then Rap/Hip-hop. I probably sing just as much as I rap, lol
What inspires you to write music?
My feelings and the music I’m listening to while I’m feeling. I’m a mood writer, my mood dictates my lyrics
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Everything I do is connected to music one way or another, even when I’m just listening to music I’m studying (Music.) I like doing DYI projects around the house, I’m and Engineer by trade.
Happiness to you is…
Watching my kids growing up. They’re the only things on this planet I love more than my music.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
Plan on doing EVERYTHING!!! On your own. No one is going help you because you’re talented, you’re going to spend money, ain’t no way around it.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I have a new ep I just finished with Bronx rapper “Mickey Factz” named “Seven” it’s going to be Bar heavy, not boom bap but, very hip hopish, lol
Where do we find you music / music projects?
Everything is on the website Therealkadiz.com, and all the other DSP’s just look for Kadiz/The Real Kadiz
Any last words for the readers?
