Elujay Little Thangs
Just in time for Sunday afternoon, Elujay comes through with more funk-infused easy listens to fuel your weekend playlists.
This time around, the Oakland multi-hyphenate is gifting us via his latest “Little Thangs” track. Keeping things in line with the previously-released “Locked In” and “Starchild” singles, Elujay pens “Little Thangs” in an ode to a special someone as he celebrates the details of his love interest while accompanied by an infectious backdrop.
“What inspired the record was Stevie Wonder,” Elujay says of the new single. “I was very inspired by this morning groove I had in my head and I asked [my homie] Dylan to make something groovy and within 40 minutes the beat was done and 20 minutes later I laid down this falsetto hook that I knew instantly would be a catchy tune. I left the hook on his computer and all throughout the day the hook played back in my head.”
“I’ve always wanted to make a groovy song with analog bass and funky synths and what not,” he adds. “I was very inspired by Donald Glover’s new song called ‘Saturday’ which he debuted on SNL in June. I thought it reminded me of a Michael Jackson song. I wanted to make something with a fire hook and fire pre-hook.”
At the moment, Elujay is still holding onto his new project, a follow-up to his Jentrify of 2016. When the effort will arrive is still a mystery, but get a taste of the effort by way of “Little Thangs.”
