From St. Louis, Missouri comes an artist whose journey through life and music has been as inspiring as it is powerful. Andre Valentine, better known as Dre Boogie, has been singing since the age of three, first finding his voice in church, at school, and throughout his time in the military. What started as childhood passion soon grew into a lifelong commitment to music. By high school, Dre Boogie was writing his own songs, sharpening the skills that would eventually guide him into becoming not just a singer, but also a songwriter, composer, and producer.
For Dre, the spark was lit at a young age. Sitting in front of the old school floor monitor television, he would watch Michael Jackson’s “Bad” and “The Way You Make Me Feel,” along with performances from groups like En Vogue. He remembers thinking one day that would be him on screen. That belief never left, and it has carried him through every challenge and milestone along the way.
Dre Boogie’s sound lives in the worlds of Adult Contemporary R&B, Blues, Soul, and Neo-Soul, genres that allow him to draw from his rich influences while staying true to his own artistry. His biggest inspirations include Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Chaka Khan, and countless others who shaped the landscape of soul and R&B. He also plays both piano and guitar, adding another layer of depth to his creative process.
One of the most defining moments of his career so far came while he was stationed in Germany, serving as a lead singer in a cover band. The morning of one of their biggest performances, he suffered a painful foot injury, knowing that the next day he was scheduled to fly to Texas for training. Despite the pain, Dre told himself that he could not let his band down. That night he performed a 24-song set, taking lead on 20 of them, delivering a show that ended with a standing ovation from the entire venue. He flew out the next morning, hiding from his band the fact that he had performed with a broken foot. It was a performance that spoke to his resilience and unwavering dedication to music.
Now, Dre Boogie is stepping into a new chapter. He is preparing to release his debut single Walk Before You Run, a song that will set the tone for everything that follows. His debut EP Artistik Kaos is also on the way before the end of the year, a project that will showcase the full range of his artistry.
