Coming straight out of Compton with some of the biggest names in Rap, R.E.G. has been spitting some real hit for years. But a stint in prison took him off the map while others from his hometown made names for themselves – artists such as Kendrick Lamar, YG, N.W.A., and Compton AV.
Trying to make up for lost time, R.E.G. has dropped the new single “No No” produced by Rob T. and the follow up single is Feel On Your Booty FT Snoop Dogg. Both are ready-made international hits.
“It’s never a dull moment when you hear an R.E.G. verse,” he said. “It’s gonna stand the test of time. I want my music to be timeless. I don’t piggyback off anyone. I try to make my own genre, and my sound is so original that most of the time when someone hears me, they don’t think it’s me. I find myself having to spit a verse for them and then they’ll recognize it’s me. At the end of the day, I’m a working man and I just try to make my own thing. I might get inspired by certain music but I won’t try to make something that sounds like that song. I make something that’s original.”
The streets never have to hunt very far for the next scorching R.E.G. verse as he has been heard spitting alongside heavyweights that include Chaka Khan, Snoop Dogg, The Dogg Pound, Biggie, Akon, Kelis, Nate Dogg, Nipsey Hussle, Kokane, The Eastsidaz, Kam and Jayo Felony, to name a few. He has also penned some hot tunes for other artists in the business.
In addition to his new single, R.E.G. has also recently partnered with EKJ Ent which forms EKj Ent/Gorilla Hustle. Through that label, he has invested in “Feel On Your Booty” to enlist both hard-hitting producer Jelly Roll and the legendary Snoop Dogg, whose bars will be featured on the second verse. His extensive resume definitely has earned him a title as a Rap veteran in all definitions of the word, and his undeniable charisma makes him one of Rap’s most distinctive personalities.
