Marathon Burger has opened its first airport location at LAX, giving travelers a new connection to the Los Angeles brand carried forward by Nipsey Hussle’s family.

Marathon Burger is now serving travelers at LAX Terminal 1, extending the restaurant business led by Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom into one of the city’s busiest gateways. Los Angeles World Airports announced the opening on October 26, alongside a new Kogi BBQ location, as part of the airport’s dining refresh.

The opening gives the Marathon name a different kind of visibility. Nipsey Hussle established The Marathon Brand in 2010, and his family and team have continued developing its businesses; according to LAWA, Asghedom described the airport restaurant as Marathon Burger’s fifth location and its first inside an airport.

The Terminal 1 menu includes breakfast as well as burgers, fries, wings and drinks. Eater reports that travelers can order the chain’s double smash burger with grilled onions, while beer, wine and cocktails broaden the airport offering beyond the meal that first introduced many customers to the restaurant.

The expansion follows a Southern California rollout that began with a pop-up in 2024, before the Melrose Avenue flagship opened in 2025. The business has expanded across the Los Angeles area, giving the LAX opening an established local network behind it.

The launch also put Los Angeles music and community directly into the celebration. The Crenshaw Marching Band and 1500 or Nothin’ performed during festivities attended by Asghedom and Kogi co-founder Roy Choi, while a new Terminal 1 pop-up offers Marathon merchandise alongside the food operation.

For Asghedom, the terminal carries a personal connection: AllHipHop reports that he and his brother frequently passed through it while traveling. Bringing the restaurant there turns that familiar departure point into another place where visitors can encounter a business rooted in their Los Angeles story.
