Doechii Takes the Director’s Seat for “Bombs” as Swamp Sessions Returns

Published on October 13, 2026

Doechii revisits her short-form music series with a self-directed visual as she shares a new statement about creative freedom and representation.

Doechii’s “Bombs” brings Swamp Sessions back into focus. Released on October 12, the new song arrives with a compact performance video on her official YouTube channel, returning to the format that helped introduce the world of her 2024 mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Running roughly a minute and a half, the visual puts Doechii in charge on both sides of the camera. Universal Music Japan confirms that she directed the clip, which incorporates Japanese lettering for the song’s title and director credit, making her authorship part of the presentation itself.

Swamp Sessions has an important place in Doechii’s catalog. The series shared brief songs and freestyles ahead of Alligator Bites Never Heal, including material connected to “Nissan Altima” and “Catfish,” giving listeners an early introduction to music that would become part of the mixtape.

The release also arrives alongside a handwritten message about where she wants to take her artistry. In an Instagram Story reported by XXL, Doechii described studying hip-hop’s roots and expressed an ambition to put Black womanhood at the center of both hip-hop and pop, while becoming the artist she wished she had seen growing up.

That return to a familiar creative outlet follows a major run for the Florida artist. Alligator Bites Never Heal won Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, while “Anxiety” earned Best Music Video at the 2026 ceremony, expanding the reach of a catalog built around both music and visual storytelling.

Her debut studio album remains without a release date in the new message. For now, “Bombs” gives listeners a fresh entry in Swamp Sessions and a self-directed visual to accompany it, as Doechii continues to articulate the creative ambitions behind her next full-length project.
