Street Fighter, featuring 50 Cent as Balrog, is tracking toward a $31 million domestic opening after Friday’s box-office results.

Street Fighter is on course to lead the North American box office, with a projected $31 million opening weekend reported on October 17. The video-game adaptation features 50 Cent as Balrog alongside an ensemble that includes Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and Jason Momoa.

The Numbers’ October 17 update reported an estimated $13 million Friday total from 3,575 theaters, including $4 million in Thursday previews. The outlet attributed the $31 million weekend projection to Paramount. That figure is a forecast for the full weekend, not a completed three-day gross.

The film opened in U.S. theaters on October 16. Paramount’s official cast listing identifies Rhodes as Guile, Reigns as Akuma and Momoa as Blanka, with Andrew Koji playing Ryu and Noah Centineo playing Ken Masters. Callina Liang takes the role of Chun-Li, while David Dastmalchian appears as M. Bison.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the adaptation places its story in 1993. According to Paramount’s synopsis, Ryu and Ken are estranged when Chun-Li draws them into the World Warrior Tournament, where a hidden conspiracy complicates their reunion. The accompanying box-office report tracks the film’s opening-day performance, rather than announcing a new casting development.

TheWrap’s October 17 report also projected a $31 million opening, against a reported $82 million production budget. Its assessment noted a B-minus CinemaScore and compared the launch with the $38.5 million opening of Mortal Kombat II. Those figures offer an early benchmark, but the first weekend alone cannot establish the film’s eventual profitability.

The Numbers placed You Can See Everything behind Street Fighter in its Saturday forecast, projecting approximately $13.2 million for the documentary. As of this report, the weekend was still underway: Sunday estimates and subsequent actual totals could revise both the projected earnings and the final ranking.
