The rap industry has a newcomer who’s already carving out his own niche. Ian Gibbons, better known by his stage name, Atlas1999, is a rising star in the music scene. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Atlas1999 has been making waves just 10 months after he took his music to the professional level.
From UTSA to the Music Scene
An alumnus of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Atlas1999’s journey into the music industry is an inspiring one. His passion for music, deeply rooted in his background, resurfaced during a challenging personal time, a painful breakup. He found solace in creating sad and therapeutic music, transforming his emotional turmoil into art that resonates deeply with his audience. His major inspirations include renowned artists Juice Wrld, XXXTentacion, and the legendary band, Tenacious D.
Turning Pain into Art
In April 2023, Atlas1999 made his debut with his first album, “I Promise It’s A Phase”, released on SoundCloud. Not resting on his laurels, he quickly followed it up with another powerful album, “Goodbye To My Past”, released on May 15th. His works, drawing largely from personal experiences, strike a chord with fans, offering them a raw and honest portrayal of life’s hardships.
His song “Dark Places Inside” from his second album, became available on all streaming platforms as a single on May 26th. With its heartfelt lyrics and a melancholic tune, it’s a track that will draw in fans of Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, Lil Peep, and Machine Gun Kelly.
Atlas1999 performed his debut concert at the Happy Place Bar in San Antonio, and is following it up with another show at VIBES Underground on June 2nd, where he will perform alongside artists like Menorah, Manson Family Blues, and Heat Wave.
