Big Sean is back with his new video for “Single Again,” one of two new singles he dropped last week. The short film, which was inspired by Sean’s relationship with Aiko, is a cautionary tale of what can happen in the court of public opinion when we believe what we see on social media.
The visual, directed by Lawrence Lamont, focuses on social media scandals — specifically one involving him cheating on Jhené Aiko, who features on the song with Ty Dolla $ign. It was shot in Sean’s hometown of Detroit and stars Ryan Destiny, Keith Powers and HaHa Davis.
Sean describes it as “a video of love and a beautiful couple who has to decide is it better to be separate or understand each other’s difference be stronger from it.”
I shot this video in Detroit, hired locally in the city and we made it with good energy n all love.

I know what it’s like to be in social scandals where even with no information/ evidence, just people assuming will blame you and turn on you.

It’s something that’s been happening to black men especially forever and I wanted to touch on that n show how social media has the power to sway people’s opinion to the point of hatred.

“Single Again,” which samples Carl Thomas’ “I Wish,” follows Sean’s “Overtime” freestyle, which also dropped last week.
