From the quiet streets of Goldsboro, North Carolina, a new voice in R&B and hip-hop is steadily rising — one grounded in authenticity, emotion, and purpose. Ty Dash, an artist, singer, and songwriter, isn’t just making music; he’s building an experience his listeners can feel.
Music has always been part of Ty’s life. “Growing up, I’ve always been around music,” he recalls. “My parents used to play music in the house and while riding in the car.” That early exposure became the foundation for his love of sound — the soundtrack of his childhood included icons like Lil Wayne, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, J. Cole, and The Weeknd.
“I used to sing around the house a lot — that’s really how I found my voice,” he says. In high school, surrounded by friends who loved to freestyle, the spark grew stronger. But it wasn’t until after leaving the Army that Ty fully stepped into his artistry. “I met people who were into recording music, and I just took a leap of faith and tried it,” he explains. “I’ve been in love with it ever since.”
Ty creates for the people. His music blends emotion, energy, and honesty — sometimes smooth and introspective, other times made for the late-night drive. “I create music for everyone, not just myself,” he says. “Whether it’s upbeat or late-night thinking, I want to create a true emotional vibe for my listeners.”
While Ty’s journey is still unfolding, his growth has already been significant. “My biggest accomplishment so far has been truly growing as an artist and meeting people who enjoy my sound,” he says. His music continues to reach new listeners — through performances, social media, and word of mouth — each connection reinforcing that his sound is resonating.
But like every artist carving their lane, Ty faced challenges along the way. One of the most defining was his decision to rebrand. “My biggest challenge has been rebranding myself into a new sound and a new artist name,” he shares. “Mentally, I had to change for the better and truly dive deeper into my creativity.” His former name, B¥uddha, held meaning but came with obstacles — mainly being hard to find and pronounce. “Ty Dash holds part of my real name,” he says. “It’s deeper, it’s me.”
The name change marked a new chapter — one that’s already shaping into something timeless. Looking ahead, Ty Dash sees his music and brand growing far beyond the local scene. “I see myself and my brand becoming timeless,” he says confidently. “I want to be at the top while reminding others to never give up on what they believe in.”
That message — perseverance, authenticity, and heart — drives everything he does. And as he gears up for his new single dropping Friday, October 17, listeners are getting the first taste of what’s next. The track will lead into his upcoming studio project “HiM”, a 14-track body of work that promises to capture the full range of Ty’s artistry.
“I want the world to know my name, my sound, and my story,” Ty says. And with momentum building and new music on the horizon, it’s clear: this is just the beginning for Ty Dash — a name you’ll soon be hearing everywhere.
