An incredibly prolific visionary, The Kid Lvndr knows how to put together a cohesive debut project filled with songs that explore more sonic boundaries than most well-established artists these days. The Rochester, New York native was inspired to start making music through therapy, and how being a creator meshes well with his musical upbringing.
“Sonically, I’m inspired by a melting pot combination of my favorite sounds of every decade,” The Kid Lvndr said. “From the harmonies and the whimsical nature of the sixties to the depth and sappiness of the eighties; the angst and crunchy sound palette of the nineties and then the sounds of the 2000s and 2010s are just ingrained in me having grown up during those years.”
As for Seasons itself, The Kid Lvndr was inspired by none other than Mother Nature.
“I wanted to pay tribute to the beautifully weird process of the seasons changing,” he said. “My inspiration behind making and releasing this project was the natural evolution and cyclical nature of the life I saw unfolding around me.”
“I feel like I noticed the same kind of cycles that I did in nature in my personal life,” The Kid Lvndr continued. “Some of them were cycles that I wanted to break, and the ones I could control were the ones I tried to focus on most.”
Seasons would not be the masterpiece it is without the help of The Kid Lvndr’s right hand man Tobias Long. Long, an old co-worker of The Kid Lvndr, mixed, mastered and applied “the works” to the album, investing in every note and every word.
“I couldn’t have done any of this without his support, talent and work ethic,” The Kid Lvndr said. “I’m very honored to have him as a friend and collaborator.”
The collaboration doesn’t stop there; The Kid Lvndr and Tobias Long have been hard at work cooking up the next batch of bangers that veer away from the Seasons theme — in a good way, of course.
“I would say my next handful of joints as The Kid Lvndr will be much more focused on being unfocused…thinking more so about the journey sonically as opposed to conceptually,” The Kid Lvndr said.
Other than that, it’s all about romanticizing the mundane for Upstate New York’s finest MC. He’s turning into a superstar right before our very eyes and it’s only a matter of time before his wildest dreams become his new reality.
