SUMiT is an excellent artist coming out of Worcester, Massachusetts that is extremely talented and unique with his music. What makes him stand out is that he is himself in music, and no one else is like him as a person. If we could all make music, everyone’s song would be different if they were the to themselves. SUMiT does that, so he never has to worry about standing out. As a competitor, he wants his pen and flow to stand out, and wants the enjoyability and energy to stand out, but not because it’s unique, but because you can feel it.
SUMiT has always had a true passion and talent for making music, and put it aside for years because he had a lack of willingness to self-promote in the mixtape era. He felt all the pressure to get a “real job” however he continued to write songs and freestyles for over 10 years without sharing them to many. After having a battle with depression, he knew he had a true calling which was music. On a vacation in Miami, he let his best friend know how he felt, and since then they made a promise to dive head first into getting his music made and heard. That friend, Danny DiRoberto, eventually became his own manager shortly after.
They both kept their promise and became more committed then ever in music, making much noise in the industry. They’ve made songs with stars such as Fabolous and Sean Kingston, performed in Boston opening for Rick Ross, and now are releasing a video they shot, at the place where the journey began. Of course every musician has accomplishments, but I asked SUMiT what some challenges he faced were, and he said, “The only challenges are the ones everyone faces day to day: self-doubt, caring about other people’s opinions, feeling efforts of futility. Those are all normal when you start putting yourself out there, the only way to combat them is with faith, in God or in yourself and what you’re doing. When you have a sense of purpose the challenges are minor. I never think of anything creatively in terms of difficulty. Some things take more time, more effort, more patience, more initiative. If you really care about what you’re making though, the only challenge is getting out of your own way.”
In the future, SUMiT wants just to be alive and making music to provide a way for his loved one to enjoy their lives. Making that happen is his only mission, he has no limits on what he believes he can do. Stretching his style to other genres like acting or directing he wouldn’t mind. His only goal with this it to let his family have great lives from his passions.
