Ryan is an up and coming hip hop artist from Seattle, WA gearing up to release his second full album, Classic American. Starting to release music officially in late 2021, a long working run in 2022 saw him grow tremendously as an artist, as well as a marketer. Gaining 10,000+ streams from a stream of singles dubbed “The Art of War“, Ryan was able to grab a major feature from San Jose rapper “Chow Mane“, design a merch collection in collaboration with Breaking Sound, sign a partner distributor deal with Symphonic Distribution, perform at a SXSW artist showcase, and travel to a few shows with WA rapper Leebotracks.
He immediately began working on an album, titled “I KNOW IM PRETTY“, with 2 lead singles, “PRETTYBOY” and “KYLE”, both with accompanying music videos, one in collaboration with Family Video Store, a New York based Asian queer-led company. Afterwards, he began working on yet another project, a mixtape titled “b&w!“. To market the release, he released three singles, eventually becoming bonus tracks for the small mixtape, and collaborated with Vida Mate, a PNW based yerba drink company. By the end of 2022, Ryan had over 20 songs in a trophied discography, setting the stage for a successful studio album release.
In addition to the support listed above, Ryan‘s music has been aired on Breaking Sound Radio, POWER 102.8 LA, WTL Radio in New Jersey, as well as several online stations through Radio Airplay.
This new song, “Back Again”, is Ryan’s victorious return to hip hop. After spending 7 months recording songs and filming visuals for his new album, he is finally ready to begin releasing singles and rolling out yet another album. However, in this single, Ryan changes his style, choosing more auto tuned vocals, and lush instrumentals, compared to the harsh and loud production choices in his previous work.
The song is joined by a music video where Ryan points directly into the camera to emphasize boasts like “Couple hundred off of rap, who would’ve thought it happened”, or “I’m eating every beat I touch, a force of habit”. In the video, Ryan flashes hundreds of dollars in front of a camera and dances around a mansion to reinforce the brags and lifestyle that he raps about in the song. Overall, the single is an entertaining watch and enjoyable listen, and “Back Again” acts as a strong returning statement for Ryan as an artist, and is the first of many to accompany his next album, “Classic American”.
