There are countless narratives that may be captured by a camera, but do we ever stop to consider the amount of labor that is required to truly convey a narrative in the manner in which it should be told? A cinematographer must meet many requirements in order to successfully bring the director’s vision to life.
When producing any kind of visual content, the cinematographer is responsible for an important part of the process. Devontay Eberhardt, also known as Dougiekingxx, is an up-and-coming cinematographer from Pittsburgh who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.
When Dougiekingxx was younger, he had the ambition to become a rapper but didn’t had the financial means to hire a videographer. As a result, he decided to teach himself cinematography and quickly fell in love with the field. Dougiekingxx has a personal experience with coming from a less privileged background, so he is familiar with the challenges of playing the role of an underdog.
He is not like other cinematographers in that he is willing to work with clients whose budgets are of any size, and in the end, he favors working with underdogs who are not even given a chance by others. He has never treated individuals based on their fame, but rather on their dedication to their craft, and he dislikes taking a day off.
Dougiekingxx has worked with Three 6 Mafia, Lil Flip, and Yung LA, and on the Netflix series Mindhunter: Season 2 and Rustin. He has also worked on the Sony Pictures movie A Beautiful Day. He was able to complete his studies for his college degree despite the fact that he worked on a variety of projects full-time. In 2012, he also launched his business under the name Dougiekingxx Productions, and since then, he has been traveling around the country to film music videos for various musicians.
