49ers Owner Jed York Arrested in Ohio, Pleads No Contest to Two Misdemeanors

San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York was arrested in Ohio over the weekend before resolving the case Monday with no-contest pleas to two misdemeanor charges.

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested Sunday morning in East Palestine, Ohio, and later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. Court records show York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution before prosecutors amended that allegation to disorderly conduct, while the criminal-tools count stemmed from his use of a cellphone in connection with the alleged conduct.

According to The Associated Press, York was released after posting a $5,000 bond and appeared in court Monday morning. He was sentenced to one day in jail on each misdemeanor, to run concurrently, and received credit for the day already served.

York was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines. Court records cited by AP say his cellphone was returned, while $160 seized during the arrest was directed to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the plea agreement, and York completed an online course.

The NFL said it is aware of the case and will review the matter under the league’s personal conduct policy. The 49ers, meanwhile, said in a statement that the legal matter had been resolved and that the organization would not provide further comment.

York, 46, took over day-to-day control of the 49ers from his parents in 2008 and became the franchise’s principal owner in 2024. Under his leadership, San Francisco has reached three Super Bowls and developed Levi’s Stadium into one of the NFL’s highest-profile venues.

The arrest comes just weeks before the 49ers open the 2026 regular season, putting fresh attention on the organization’s ownership as the league determines whether any additional discipline is warranted under its conduct policy. No further action from the NFL had been announced as of Monday.
