Up and coming rap star Wyd Benny has done it again with his latest single “Mouse & Man.” Right off the bat, the energy the track has strikes the listener, and by the time it’s over, you just have to press repeat. According to the artist himself, the song’s vibe was pretty much cemented the minute he heard the beat.
“The inspiration for ‘Mouse & Man’ was really the beat,” said Wyd Benny. “It hit my ears and I knew I was blessed…I didn’t know what to say on it then but I knew whatever I was going to say was going to be fire.”
Production wise, the track was produced by Wyd Benny’s good friends Gittyman and Scorpio SZN. After fighting through some writer’s block, he linked up with mix engineer Jace* to record what may be his best track yet.
“I had this beat saved for a couple of weeks, [and] I was kinda lyrically stuck on it,” said Wyd Benny. “I rewrote it probably three times but was finally happy with it…the third time really is the charm I guess.”
Don’t worry, the Kansas City native has plenty up his sleeve for the rest of 2023. He plans on dropping every Friday and to continue to tap in with local KC area artists and businesses. In addition, Wyd Benny is part of a collective known as Scumlords of KC, which looks to highlight the best rap talent in Kansas City. Regardless of what he’s doing, he’s sure to end up in your playlist one way or another, so it’s best that you tune in to Wyd Benny sooner rather than later.
