Drake slipped the phrase “pray for Gaza” into an unreleased, dancehall-leaning song previewed during his new FOMO film, creating one of the project’s most closely watched musical moments.
Drake premiered a new unreleased track during FOMO, the hour-long visual project that arrived on September 15. The lyric appears around the 17:47 mark, where he can be heard saying “pray for Gaza” during a brief section of the song; a title and standalone release date for the record have not been announced.
The meaning of the line is not completely clear from the snippet alone. Complex noted that it could refer to Gaza in the Middle East, while the song’s dancehall influence also leaves open a possible reference to Vybz Kartel, whose Portmore movement and fan base have long used “Gaza” as an identifying name.
There is also documented context for the political interpretation. Drake was listed among the signatories of Artists4Ceasefire’s 2023 open letter calling for de-escalation and a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel, and longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib later told Rolling Stone MENA that he spoke with Drake and his team about signing the letter. That history does not, however, confirm exactly which meaning Drake intended in the new lyric.
FOMO, short for Fear of Missing Out, was introduced by Drake as a self-funded “not so short film” created with members of his inner circle. The project also features additional unreleased music and collaborations, including material with Don Toliver, while expanding on the mysterious campaign that began building around FOMO earlier this month.
The film follows a packed 2026 for the Toronto rapper, whose recent run has included the Iceman era and a steady stream of new visuals and songs. The “pray for Gaza” snippet has not yet been confirmed as an official single, making its appearance in FOMO the first public preview of the track.
FOMO is streaming now on YouTube. The unreleased song can be heard during the film, but Drake has not announced when or whether the track will receive a separate release.
