FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Ikilledkain has spent the past nine years developing his sound, building his identity, and finding his place within the underground music scene. What began in high school alongside two of his homies has grown into a musical journey that has taken Ikilledkain across state lines while representing Third World Posse.
Throughout that journey, Ikilledkain has continued to explore different sides of his artistry rather than limiting himself to one sound. That creative freedom is becoming even more apparent as he prepares for the release of As Beautiful as a Crucifix on October 2nd.
Created as an honest reflection of what has been going on inside Ikilledkain’s mind over the past several months, the forthcoming release moves through different sounds, moods, and approaches, revealing a side of his artistry listeners have not seen before.
It opens with an indie pop and bedroom pop-inspired song before transitioning into the underground sound that originally brought Ikilledkain into the scene and helped establish the name Kain. The contrast reflects his willingness to move beyond expectations while staying connected to the foundation that shaped him.
The music also introduces a more melodic side of Ikilledkain through his use of singing. Several songs feature his vocals in a way listeners have not heard from him before, opening up another form of expression and adding a new dimension to his sound.
Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, Ikilledkain was influenced by the underground music surrounding him. At the same time, he wants to show that being a Texas artist does not mean having to stay within one particular sound or follow a basic formula. His approach gives him room to experiment while remaining connected to the authenticity of his roots.
The title As Beautiful as a Crucifix reflects the deeper meaning behind the music. For Ikilledkain, it represents finding beauty within sacrifice, hardship, and pain. Those experiences became part of the creative process, giving the music a personal foundation alongside its experimentation with sound.
Beyond recording, Ikilledkain continues to build through live performances and his work with Third World Posse. His latest show is set to take place in Los Angeles, California, where he will perform alongside his good friend Tacet, continuing to bring his music to audiences beyond his home state.
With October 2nd approaching, Ikilledkain is stepping into a more personal and expansive phase of his artistry. After nine years of developing his craft, he continues to explore new possibilities while showing audiences that there is more to his sound than what they may have heard before.
