Q: What’s your artist name and where are you from?
A: DJ Chuck T. I’m from Charleston, SC, and my name is short for the nickname of my city, Chuck Town. I reside in Charlotte, NC though. I had to make a move to a bigger city to expand my brand.
Q: Why do you love music?
A: I can’t tell you why I love music but I can tell you that music has always been important to me since as far back as I can remember. I’ve always been involved with music whether it’s been the creation of music or handling the business side of things. Music is my release. It’s what keeps me focused and centered.
Q: What makes you different as a musician?
A: As a DJ who came up in the mixtape era I’ve always been focused on breaking records, breaking artists, finding new music, and helping bridge the gap between the artists and the fans. That time has passed and we’re in the “flex” era where everyone wants to be at the start and be at the forefront. So while most DJs are trying to be just as famous as the artists by taking their shine, I’m focused on making my name by presenting new artists and new music to the World.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: I want a music school. Not just to teach the “music-making” side of things but the business side as well. That’s my top priority right now.
Q: What do you bring to the music world?
A: I’m a one-stop shop for all things music. Whether it’s DJing, marketing & promotion, doing mixtapes, getting marketing material printed, or performing at shows I do it all or can plug you in with someone who can.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered as being someone who’s helped break artists and educated people on the business side of music.
Q: Why do you create?
A: Cause I love it. I genuinely love what I do. It’s a thrill.
Q: What do you want to accomplish in life?
A: Opening a school for music is my top priority. I’ve accomplished everything else I’ve wanted to achieve. I have over 35+ awards for DJing and making mixtapes. It’s time to switch gears and step into the “OG” position.
Q: What are your most memorable accomplishments to date and why?
A: My most memorable accomplishment is starting my music business class, The Foundation Of Music. It’s something that I created from the ground up. I built the curriculum from scratch. As a DJ we typically spend our careers helping others reach new heights and make money by pushing their creations. This is something that’s mine.
