Jupitor tha Enlightened One can be described as a conscious, psychedelic, and spiritual hip-hop artist. Originally from Denver Colorado, Jupitor spent most of his life moving from place to place, living all over the country, spending considerable time in Santa Cruz California, and St. Petersburg Florida. This nomadic lifestyle has shaped Jupitor’s artistic style in the sense that he doesn’t embody a particular city or state’s musical culture, rather he boasts his own unique style built on the beliefs and ideals he’s come to embody on his journey.
This journey, which Jupitor himself calls his spiritual path unfolds into his symbolic and highly conceptual art. Instead of mixtapes, he creates portals bringing us through his personal transformations and thoughts, often using his songs as scenes to tell a much bigger story, the way the tarot tells the story of the ‘L’Exuse’ through a series of symbolic pictures. The meaning behind each art piece is what drives Jupitor to create and to share his creations with the world with the hopes of awakening a passion for liberation and illumination within all human beings.
It is this goal, this purpose, this telos that Jupitor has excepted to bear on his back for all to see, not for the sake of fame and fortune but because the world needs more Tupac Shakur’s, more Kendrick Lamar’s, more Ab-Soul’s, and more Jay Electronica’s; more philosophers like the artists who Jupitor felt played an immense role in raising him when he was young and trying to establish his beliefs on about the world.
One of his major objectives is unifying all likes of people under the symbol and concept of ‘the tree of life’. Due to the fact that, all races of human beings on earth pertain to the same species, it only follows that we all evolved out of the same primordial ancestor. Therefore, we are all unified as leaves on different branches of the same tree. It also follows that there is no chosen branch, race, or nation, as we are all more one than we are separate. Within this philosophy comes the embracing of all of the different cultures and belief systems, which Jupitor refers to throughout his music. Instead of embodying one branch of the tree, Jupitor intertwines the different branches, highlighting their similarities while giving rise to a bigger picture of spirituality as a whole.
Beyond just music, Jupitor writes short stories, allegories, poetry, and philosophical essays, mastering the use of the word and the metaphor in as many of their never-ending forms as possible. It is through working with metaphors, symbols, and archetypes that Jupitor has come to express his ever-deepening delve into the psychological and metaphysical realms explored during the odyssey of his creations. A true psychonaut and a shaman, Jupitor is not a rapper but an artist who revers the prophetic voices that came before him. Like God speaking light into the world, they illuminated the darkness and allowed him to reach beyond the veil of society and social conventions.
Because of that, he mirrored their approach and expressed himself over an amalgam of different instruments all tuned to the emotion and the passion that he felt towards each scene in his saga. The journey is far from done, and in many ways is just beginning, as Jupitor himself slowly unveils the curtain and allows the world to see him for who he truly is. His next project, Welcome to Neverland, is a 22 song commercial tape expressing his journey into the music industry, highlighting the internal trials and tribulations he’s faced while interweaving his beliefs with the much more materialistic culture that is modern-day commercial hip-hop.
