Tell us about you:
My artist name is “Call Me Jah” and I’m from Greenville, South Carolina . I love music because it’s the ultimate form of expression and it has been transformed and evolved since sound was first discovered. What makes me different as an artist isn’t only my thought process or the fact that I create and produce all my own original music. But the fact that I was able to get into this point in my artistry by learning and teaching myself. My career hasn’t begun but I think I have the skills to have a fair chance to those who have the capitol that I’m working towards.
I see myself owning my own studio and being a Grammy nominated artist. I see myself shifting the game from trap music and trends to more thought provoking and emotional intelligent music like the greats who’ve preceded me. My ultimate goal in life is to teach. Whether that’s directly or indirectly. I have a learning attitude towards every challenge I face in life and I feel like I can translate that by my music and influence the next generation to feel like thinking and learning is cool and accepted again.
What I bring to the music world is a style and originality that hasn’t been brought the game. I ultimately wanted to be my generations weezy but truthfully the path I’ve been on I’ve felt more like Yeezy. Always had the skills that OGs have acknowledged and appreciated but my peers have yet to see my potential and give me a chance. But these are different times and I know that if all the legend have been in this same space, I can conquer it as well!
I want to be remembered as someone who accompanied their dreams with no support and with nothing but obstacles meant for a God to overcome.
