Kidd Malice is the kind of artist that comes from being overlooked, not celebrated. Coming out of Grand Haven and Ferrysburg, Michigan, his story is built on silence, on watching people hesitate, and on realizing that waiting for support is a waste of time. The local scene never really showed up when he needed it, and while he still respects the fact that they are trying to build something, that window has closed for him. People had their chance. He is focused on himself now.
His inspiration comes from artists who were never afraid to be real, even when it cost them. Mac Miller, Juice WRLD, XXXTENTACION, and Lil Peep all left behind music that felt honest and unfiltered. That honesty stuck with Kidd Malice early on. It showed him that rap does not have to be perfect or clean to be powerful. It just has to be true. Those artists shaped how he thinks about emotion in music and how much of yourself you are willing to put on the line.
Rap and hip hop are where he feels the most natural. It is the sound that comes easiest to him and the lane he wants to establish himself in first. That said, he does not plan to stay boxed in forever. When he has more time and money, he wants to explore other genres and experiment more. For now, the goal is to build a strong foundation before branching out.
Before rap ever entered the picture, Kidd Malice was playing the cello. From fifth to ninth grade, he learned music in a structured way, which still influences how he hears beats and melodies today. That background gave him an ear for emotion and pacing. While the cello is the only instrument he formally learned, he has always wanted to pick up the drums and piano. Those are still on his list as he continues to grow as an artist.
When asked about his biggest influences, he does not hesitate. Mac Miller, XXXTENTACION, and Juice WRLD. Each one represents something different to him. Growth, pain, and vulnerability. Those are things he tries to channel in his own way rather than copy directly.
Right now, Kidd Malice is working on his first album titled Malice Fever. There is no set release date yet, and he is not forcing one. The project is still coming together the way it needs to. While working on the album, he has been dropping singles on SoundCloud to stay active and let people hear his progression in real time.
As for shows and future plans, nothing has been announced yet. He plans to release those details when the time is right.
Kidd Malice is not chasing validation. He is building quietly, learning as he goes, and turning every missed opportunity into motivation. When Malice Fever finally drops, it will speak for itself.
