Colin Kaepernick’s right-hand man and fellow protester Eric Reid recently spoke out about reports that JAY-Z will reportedly become a part-owner of an NFL franchise and didn’t mince words. While donning an “I’m With Kap” jersey, Reid told reporters:
“JAY-Z claimed to be a supporter of Colin […] Wore his jersey. Told people not perform at the super bowl because of the treatment that the NFL did to Colin and now he’s going to be a part-owner. It’s kind of despicable.”

Reid has been critical of the entire deal since it became public, writing on Twitter about the entertainment and social justice partnership: “Interesting timing on the partnership with Jay-Z on the heels of Stephen Ross’ fundraiser for Donald Trump and the backlash his other companies are getting because of it. #PayAttentionFolks”

Kaepernick has been out of the league for over two years now, and his choice to kneel during the national anthem has become a headline topic for football. Even the sitting president weighed in on the matter, and recently said he hopes Kaepernick gets a job soon. Reid has remained his staunchest supporter through it all.
Jay-Z acquiring stake in a team would be his second go-around as a part-time owner after buying stake in his hometown Brooklyn Nets earlier this decade.
