The felony charge against singer Chris Brown that stemmed from an alleged nightclub fight in Tampa back in 2017 has been dropped.
A representative for Hillsborough County courts confirmed Monday the felony battery charge against the R&B artist was dropped. The “No Guidance” singer was arrested in West Palm Beach in July 2018 and charged with felony battery stemming from an incident in 2017 when he allegedly punched a photographer at a nightclub.
The photographer told officers he had been hired to take photos of an event at AJA Channelside. Brown was sitting near the photographer and reportedly motioned for him to move away. The photographer told police he moved away, and that he told Brown he was hired to take pictures of the crowd.
Witnesses said Brown then approached the photographer and punched his upper lip before leaving the nightclub, according to the police.
The arrest report claimed the photographer suffered injuries to his upper and lower lip, and the incident was captured on video by club security. Brown fled the scene before cops arrived.
The singer pleaded not guilty to that charge shortly after his arrest. Brown’s attorney appeared in a Hillsborough County courtroom about a month later saying his client was “wrongfully accused” in the 2017 case.
