LA-based songwriter and artist Brooke Williams began writing music at age seven, drawing her love of the craft from a diverse range of influences – from Aretha Franklin and Dolly Parton to Aqua and Kanye. After just one single release, Brooke was found on Spotify by Snafu Records co-founder Ankit Desai.
Brooke has since written songs for artists including AOA (Virgin), IV Jay (Atlantic), Tritonal, TVXQ! (SM Entertainment), Mishcatt, Shuba, KINGS and most recent collaboration, Big Gigantic. You also may have heard some of her songs on shows like Selling Sunset, UFC and the most recent Starz promo. She’s currently working on her solo project and can’t wait to release new music.
Her latest single is “happy 4 you”, released alongside an evocative visual shot by Andrew & Laura with Good X Studios. Here, Williams’ focused, engaging songwriting style is on full display, alongside expansive, dense instrumentation that immerses the listener in moody, vivid sounds. Vocally, she shines with powerful verses full of sharply-written melodies, before the song dynamically builds into a cathartic chorus.
The new accompanying visual makes for a cohesive accompaniment to the track, with subdued, nocturnal shots and grainy, textural filters that pair nicely with the song’s lo-fi aesthetics. A emotive release that finds Williams’ once again displaying her wide-ranging creative abilities and songwriting skills, “happy 4 you” makes for a moving listening experience, and the new video enhances its dreamy, ethereal soundscape.
