Ash Ketchum, star of the Pokémon franchise, has finally won a Pokémon League Championship, and it only took two whole decades.
In the most recent episode of the Pokémon Sun & Moon anime, which aired in Japan, Ash won the Aloha region title and no one was more surprised than Ash himself. According to Crunchyroll, Ash met Gladion in the final round of the regional league, where each trainer relied on their wolf Pokémon Lycanroc to seize the championship.
We should note however that while many viewers and fans of the franchise are calling this Ash’s first-ever title, some Twitter users are pointing to season two of the series, when Ash beat Drake to take home the Orange League Championship. Either way, it’s been a good 20 years since Ash came out on top.
Sun & Moon is reportedly being dubbed in English and will soon arrive on Disney XD.
