Ariana Grande is breaking her silence on Mac Miller’s passing.
One week after his death on Sept. 7, the Sweetener singer has penned a touching tribute to her ex-boyfriend, who was found dead at his Studio City, Calif. home after an apparent drug overdose. He was 26.
On Friday (Sept. 14), Grande posted a video on Instagram of her former boyfriend at dinner, laughing and smiling as she films him. The former couple, who collaborated on the 2013 hit “The Way,” dated for at least a year-and-a-half before breaking up earlier this year.

“i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will,” she wrote. “i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”
Grande previously reacted to Miller’s death by posting a black-and-white photo of him on Instagram without a caption.
During his podcast, Miller’s friend Shane Powers praised Grande for being “deeply helpful and effective” in Miller’s sobriety.
