At 26 years old, Are Why has begun making a name for himself through his music. He was born and brought up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He considers himself an East Coast artist because he believes that he drew his musical inspiration from primarily East Coast culture.
Only in 2020 did Areywhy release his first song on streaming services. In 1 year and a few months, he has dropped 7 singles, a Christmas rap album ‘The Fight Before Christmas’, a Valentine’s Day themed episode, and his debut album 1-800-AREWHY in February this year. Achieving so much in just 2 years makes him the new source of inspiration for future artists, and as a result, he has attracted a lot of attention among the youth.
Areywhy has given a fresh definition of being an artist. For him, being an artist means being open and honest with oneself as well as with the world in the hope of connecting with fans and other artists who relate to one’s experience. AreyWhy’s music is inspired by Childish Gambino, Mac Miller, Curren$y, Tyler the Creator, and Outkast. He finds them inspiring as each of them had their own unique path and became successful by pursuing what they wanted in life. Rather than imitating popular music, his style is a reflection of his own life experiences. Writing music from his heart is his therapeutic exercise and is something that keeps him going. After creating a ton of music, AreWhy is yet again out with his new single that dropped on the 16 of August, called “Dark Corners,” which was mixed by Green Tea Studios. He is a born writer. Before writing songs, he used to make up superheroes and draw comic books. His experience is visible in his beautiful compositions.
