The South definitely got something to say—and this time, with six-string soul.

ATL-based collective A.T.L.D.V. returns with a genre-bending banger, “Crazy,” dropping just in time for summer, soaked in the spirit of Southern rap’s golden era. Dropping today, the track feels like a sonic bridge between ATL’s Dungeon Family roots and the mellow funk of 90’s classics like Rappin’ 4-Tay’s “Playaz Club” and other classic OutKast cuts.

“Crazy” rides on a smooth, bluesy guitar riff that serves as its backbone, creating a mellow yet magnetic atmosphere. It’s the kind of sound that creeps up on you—seductive, soulful, and with the right blend of funk. That guitar doesn’t just carry the melody; it speaks, wails, and weaves around the vocals like smoke curling out of a back porch stereo.

“There’s a certain madness that comes with love—especially when it catches you off guard,” says the group. “We wanted the track to feel like that moment when you’re driving through the city late at night, replaying everything. The guitar had to also be speaking on the beat.”

Vocally, A.T.L.D.V. floats somewhere between gospel ache and funk swagger. Their harmonies are rich, full-bodied, and steeped in Atlanta soul. The production keeps it groovy and soulful—think Organized Noize with a splash of Bay Area bounce, all wrapped in analog warmth.

OutKast fans will catch echoes of “Prototype,” while Goodie Mob heads might hear the emotional resonance of “Guess Who” or “Beautiful Skin.” But “Crazy” is no throwback—it’s a forward-facing love letter to ATL’s musical lineage, crafted with reverence and intention.

A.T.L.D.V. (short for Artists That’s Living a Dream Vision) continues to cement their rep as one of the most dynamic collectives coming out of the South. Amy Christine Nako Devincci & Ike Nyce are The Future Of R&B Bands  With “Crazy,” they’re not just evoking the past—they’re evolving it.

“Crazy” is available now on all streaming platforms. File this one under slow-burning fire.
