The Peezy Institute of Technology, or “Peezy Tech Music,” for short, was founded in October 2014 by Billboard chart topping, Grammy, Stellar and Dove nominated producer Sam Peezy. Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Peezy always had the desire to create the “new Motown.” Under the direction of his father Michael A. Avery, Sam Peezy started Village Idiot Records in 1999. That venture would later evolve into Peezy Tech Music.
Sam Peezy then teamed up with industry stalwarts Shartric “Fly Shy” Boyd, as well as Peezy’s mentor the legendary Enrique “Tetraz” Dent, industry veteran Horace Weathers and lastly A&R Stephen Gray to make up the staff of Peezy Tech Music. The first artist Peezy Tech Music dropped was Grammy nominated singer Selah Avery. Her blend of house, funk, and neo soul, with Gospel lyrics branded as “worship soul,” took the airwaves by surprise in 2020, when her single, “In My Purse” would hit number one on the British Soul Influencer charts.
As it stands today, the roster of Peezy Tech Music includes Alabama emcee BoneBreaker Jones, Detroit emcee Kin6 Kashius and Connecticut native Jack Beazly, who along with Sam Peezy form the group Orange Whip. Selah Avery’s single, “Gas Is High,” is due to hit the airwaves internationally at the beginning of 2023.
