Introducing Rising Artist: KingJu1c3

How did you first get into music?

So my brother in law who is a former keyboardist for Kendrick Lamar, and plays for other major artists, first put me on back when I was in high school. I started writing to his instrumentals, then the rest is history.

Who inspired you to make music?

My original inspiration is Michael Jackson. I was obsessed as a kid and would play the movie MoonWalker back to back to back. Ne-yo and Ginuwine were some big influences for me at a time, I’m pretty sure you can hear their influences in some tracks like For Tonight and My Shawty.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Versatile. I got Range my guy. Versatility in genres and life experiences. I’ve been through a lot.

Who would you most like to collaborate with and why?

The Weeknd, he’s the goat IMO. And of course Cardi B, she’s such a baddie, plus she’s single now too? Lookout Shawty..KingJu1c3 is on the loose.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

The Weeknd, He’s my favorite contemporary artist. I listen to a lot of his music and he has depth in both lyrically and his catalog.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

At the end of the day, I’m an Empowerer. I enjoy empowering people, whether that’s through my music or other means. For those who vibe with my music I hope it means something to you and you can benefit in some way.

How has the digital era influenced your music?

Technology should be all about accessibility, so the digital age has definitely made things more accessible than before the Napster and Limewire days. And with plugins and DAWs being what they are now, its a lot easier to do my music. I not only write and record my own tracks, I mix and master most of it myself as well.

What advice would you give to emerging artists?

Keep on creating and producing. Hone your craft to be great so that when the time to be recognized is there, its an easy transition. The Right people recognize greatness when they see it.

Tell us about your latest release…

My latest drops are “Baddest/Squeeze,” “What I Said/Got That Bread,” and “7 Eleven,” all tied into my album Where She At Doe. “Baddest” and “What I Said” are them joints you blast when you tryna turn the spot up—pure club energy. I was in my bag, feelin’ good, and just let it rip for the people. Me and AcWolf got this thing called AstroBlack goin’, and we’re buildin’ an EP that’s gonna slap—watch for that. Then “7 Eleven,” that’s a different vibe. It’s about this dude out here wildin’, chasin’ a chick who’s never there, so ends up messin’ with this other shawty who’s trouble—like a black widow type. The album’s a whole story, pulled straight from personal experiences.

What’s next for you?

We’re workin’ on a video for “Baddest/Squeeze” right now—gonna be live, big energy, droppin’ soon, so stay ready. Where She At Doe lands March 22, 2025—full story, full vibes, you don’t wanna miss it. And with AcWolf, we got AstroBlack cookin’ up an EP called Watch Close—our styles mixin’ into somethin’ fresh. It’s comin’, fam.
