Growing up in Coatesville, PA, Jo discovered the power of music as a teenager struggling with borderline personality disorder (BPD). “Music was the only way to calm me down and pour my emotions, heart, and soul into my work,” she explains. Amidst the prevailing themes of heartbreak, sex, and drugs in today’s popular music, Jo is dedicated to creating a different kind of sound – one that promotes emotional release, humility, and the therapeutic power of art.
Jo’s music is a reflection of her own journey with mental health. Her lyrics, such as “But if time is a concept, then I won’t waste none” from her song “We Gonna Be Alright,” speak to her commitment to personal growth and pursuing her passions. “I feel that I should never waste my time…rather than falling into bad habits,” she says. By sharing her story, Jo hopes to provide solace and connection for others who have faced similar challenges.
This Friday, July 12, Jo is releasing a new single called “Gorgeous” that will be available on all music platforms. Fans can look forward to two upcoming albums, one of which is nearing completion and will be promoted throughout the next month. By creating a safe space for listeners to express their deepest emotions, Jo is helping to prioritize mental health awareness and understanding through her music.
