Apr 02, 2021, 11:58am EST — New York rapper Kel$z Luchie pays homage to the Great Lake State with his new single and video, “Michigan Dunks,” available today via Entertainment One (eOne). Produced by Buda & Grandz, “Michigan Dunks” taps into that dynamic Detroit rap style that has energized hip hop in recent years with humorous lyrics delivered with that Michigan slur over a timeless piano-driven beat.
The accompanying video was directed by Ty Vision. “Michigan Dunks” is also the follow up to Kel$z Luchie’s previously released singles “Torch”, “GG”, and “Uzi”, with the videos both garnering over 680K views on YouTube collectively.

Born and raised on the west side of the Bronx on Heath Avenue (Kingsbridge), the 25-year-old Dominican & Columbian rapper credits his sound to the influences all around him. “Being outside every day is mainly where I get my inspiration from. I have much more to talk about in my music.” He continues, “I grew up in a musical household – my father is a musician and my older brother was always listening to rap, so these influences made me appreciate music at a young age. Kel$Z’s unique New York sound was cemented with the release of countless singles and freestyles, plus his 2017 album Real Fake and 2018’s 456.
In early 2020, he released the EP Y2K Joints via Soundcloud. The 4-track freestyle EP featured short freestyles over the following instrumentals: Sisqo’s “Thong Song”; Fabolous’ “Young’n (Holla Back)”; Nelly’s “Hot In Herre”; and Jagged Edge’s “Where the Party At.” He plans to release a longer version with additional freestyles a little later this year. But first, Kel$z is working on an EP to be released shortly.
