Atlanta’s frontcourt star delivered another double-double as the Dream moved ahead in the championship series at State Farm Arena.

Angel Reese finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 97-71 on October 21. The Game 3 victory gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead in the WNBA Finals and a second consecutive win after dropping the opener.

Reese has now recorded a double-double in all three games of the series, becoming the youngest player with three consecutive Finals double-doubles. She also contributed three assists and three steals Wednesday, extending her influence beyond scoring and controlling the glass.

Rhyne Howard added 16 points and five steals, becoming the first player with at least five steals in back-to-back Finals games. Naz Hillmon scored 15, Isobel Borlase supplied 12, and Jordin Canada finished with 10 points and eight assists.

The decisive separation came after halftime. According to the Dream’s game recap, Golden State tied the score at 49 early in the third quarter, but Atlanta closed the period on a 12-2 run to take a 71-57 advantage into the fourth.

Golden State’s offense struggled to keep pace, with Gabby Williams scoring a team-high 15 points on 5-for-18 shooting. Tiffany Hayes added 14, while Cecilia Zandalasini and Janelle Salaun had 13 apiece, but those contributions could not prevent Atlanta from pulling away.

The Dream still need two more wins to secure the championship in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday in Atlanta, giving Reese and her teammates another opportunity to build on their home-court advantage without mistaking this lead for a finished job.
