The independent Bronx MC honors the lyrical spirit of his hometown while continuing to build a voice of his own.
Cristo From The Bronx puts his hometown and his pen at the center of “Yoke The Joker Freestyle,” his October 21, 2026 release. Now available on SoundCloud, the track carries the independent rapper’s commitment to Bronx hip-hop into a performance built around lyrical confidence and a distinctly New York perspective.
The freestyle pays homage to the energy and competitive spirit of classic New York rap while keeping Cristo’s own voice in focus. That balance defines the record’s purpose: honoring the culture that shaped him without allowing that history to overshadow the identity he is building for himself.
Born Chris Laboriel in the South Bronx, Cristo began writing rhymes at eleven after absorbing the mixtapes and instrumentals his older brother brought into his life. His brother Jerm provided an early point of inspiration, but Cristo eventually stepped beyond that influence to develop his own approach to storytelling.
His upbringing in the Bronx also informed the creation of Firm$Dream, the brand he built around his independent ambitions. Across his music, he explores the pursuit of money and the appeal of the hustler’s life, drawing on lived experience to bring together poetic writing, grit and self-assurance.
That path includes the Firm$Dream-released EP For Players Only and “My Shorty Forever,” a single that reached listeners overseas and extended his audience beyond his home borough. By 2017, he was continuing to release singles and collaborate with local artists, adding to a body of work rooted in New York’s underground.
“Yoke The Joker Freestyle” brings those foundations into a focused statement of where Cristo stands as an independent MC. The track is streaming on his official SoundCloud page, offering listeners a direct introduction to an artist intent on preserving his Bronx roots while making room for his own story.
