Eminem’s October 17 statement centers his longtime friendship with Kid Rock as their new collaboration reaches listeners.

Eminem has addressed his decision to record with Kid Rock, putting their friendship at the center of a new statement on October 17. His message accompanied the arrival of “Heal My Faith,” their collaboration on Rock’s newly released Christian album Halfway 2 Jesus.

“Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us,” Eminem wrote on X. The post tagged Rock and included the song’s hashtag, making it a direct response from the rapper rather than another explanation offered on his behalf.

The pairing has drawn attention because of the artists’ opposing political positions. Rock is an outspoken Donald Trump supporter, while Eminem has publicly criticized Trump and appeared at a Detroit campaign rally supporting Kamala Harris in 2024. The new statement frames the recording as a personal collaboration, not an announcement that their politics have changed.

The release also resolves confusion created by an earlier tracklist. As IBTimes reported before the album arrived, Eminem was initially listed on “7 Sins,” but moved to “Heal My Faith”; Lil Wayne appears on “7 Sins” instead. Rock said Eminem had asked to revisit the earlier song after the original album announcement.

Their recording history reaches back well before this rollout. Eminem appeared on Rock’s 1998 track “Fuck Off,” from Devil Without a Cause, and Rock later appeared in the 2013 “Berzerk” video. Stereogum’s October 17 report places the new feature within that long-running connection rather than treating the two as first-time collaborators.

Halfway 2 Jesus is out now, with Apple Music listing October 17 as its release date and 17 songs in the collection. Rock’s official profile also links the “Heal My Faith” lyric video, giving listeners the complete collaboration alongside Eminem’s short explanation of why he chose to participate.
