Quavo Explains How Losing Takeoff Changed His Relationship With Offset

In a new interview, Quavo says losing Takeoff changed how he viewed the disagreements that had strained his bond with Offset.

Quavo is opening up about his relationship with Offset in an Idea Generation interview released September 29. The Migos rapper said Takeoff’s death shifted his perspective on their tension, bringing their shared grief into sharper focus than the issues between them.

Asked how the loss affected his relationship with Offset, Quavo said it had “eased it a little bit.” He explained that his previous frustrations mattered less, while making clear that he could only describe his own feelings: “I don’t know on his end. I’m just talking for me.”

That change did not mean his grief had ended. Quavo said he was still processing the loss of Takeoff, and described releasing the music his nephew left behind as a responsibility he intends to carry forward.

The conversation also connected that outlook to QRÖMELIFE, with Quavo explaining the protective, resilient state of mind behind the title. He said the experience had changed how he responds to challenges and how he approaches the next stage of his career.

The interview arrives after Quavo and Offset previewed their collaboration “Away” at a Los Angeles listening event for the album. Their appearance together gave the upcoming release another connection to Migos, whose last full-length group album, Culture III, came out in 2021.

QRÖMELIFE arrives October 2 through Quality Control/Motown, with Pharrell Williams as executive producer. The 14-song project follows Quavo’s 2023 solo album Rocket Power and brings together guests including Offset, T.I., Future and Justin Timberlake.
