Joe Budden has taken his longtime relationship with Shadée Monique to the next level, proposing after the couple recently marked seven years together.

Joe Budden and Shadée Monique are engaged, with the rapper-turned-podcast host popping the question in a moment shared online Sunday. Footage of the proposal was captured by veteran journalist Elliott Wilson and posted to Instagram, confirming a major new chapter for the longtime couple.

According to Complex, Budden could be heard gathering himself before getting down to business as Monique stood in front of him. The proposal comes just before Budden’s 46th birthday on Aug. 31, adding another milestone to an already celebratory stretch.

Budden and Monique have been together since the summer of 2019 and celebrated their seventh anniversary in July. Their relationship became more public over time, with Budden sharing a fuller anniversary post in 2022 after the pair had previously kept much of their romance away from the spotlight.

The engagement follows years of the couple openly building a life together, including conversations about marriage on their joint podcast, Pod Wives. That history made the proposal a natural progression for listeners who have followed their relationship through Budden’s growing podcast universe.

Monique, a Houston native and entrepreneur, operates the clothing boutique Bawdy Essentials and co-hosts Pod Wives with Budden. She has also become familiar to listeners of The Joe Budden Podcast, where she is known as a recurring off-camera presence.

The engagement gives Budden and Monique a new anniversary to celebrate after seven years as a couple. No wedding date has been publicly announced, but the proposal makes their plans to marry official after years of public discussion about their future together.
