Joe Budden addressed the surprise reunion on Episode 961 of The Joe Budden Podcast, where the official episode description notes his reaction to Kanye West’s stadium run and Big Sean squashing their beef. Sean joined Ye at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sept. 4, giving the former G.O.O.D. Music collaborators a high-profile reunion after years of public tension.
During the discussion, Budden said he enjoyed seeing the pair together but objected to the history behind the moment. “I hate how he flips on the people that have always been for him,” Budden said. “I think that’s the corniest shit in the world.”
Budden’s issue was not with Sean choosing to perform with Ye. Instead, he focused on Kanye West and what he described as a repeated pattern of publicly turning on longtime collaborators before eventually reconnecting with them, arguing that Ye has done it more often than anyone he has watched during his years in hip-hop.
Sean appeared during Ye’s Chicago homecoming show and performed “Clique” before running through “IDFWU.” He later joined Ye and 2 Chainz for “Mercy,” with the reunion carrying extra weight because the pair’s relationship had been strained for years after Sean’s 2021 exit from G.O.O.D. Music and Ye’s highly publicized criticism of signing him.
Budden also pointed to Pusha T while discussing Ye’s fractured relationships with longtime collaborators, recalling that Push had resisted speaking negatively about West even when their own relationship became complicated. That loyalty, Budden argued, is why Ye’s public fallouts with people who supported him continue to bother him.
Even with that criticism, Budden did not dismiss the reunion itself, saying he thought it was “dope” because fans love Big Sean and Kanye together.
