North West Wants a ‘Regular Job’ at Starbucks While Growing Her Music Career

North West says she wants to experience a normal teenage job at Starbucks even as she keeps pushing forward with music, rehearsals and live performances.

North West has a surprisingly ordinary goal in mind for next year: getting a job at Starbucks. In a new Dazed interview, the 13-year-old artist said she hopes to start working there when she turns 14, adding, “I want to have a regular job, I guess.”

The idea does not mean North is stepping away from music. Her debut EP, N0rth4evr, arrived in May, and she told Dazed that rehearsing, going to the studio and performing are central to how she wants to spend her time as she develops her sound and stage presence.

North also made clear that she is not interested in waiting until she is older to take her creative ambitions seriously. She described music as both something she enjoys and something she wants to pursue long term, while saying, “I don’t like to rest a lot.”

Her 2026 run has already included a first solo festival performance at Summer Smash in June and a surprise appearance with Molly Santana earlier in the year. North and Santana were later scheduled to head out together on the 14-date Kimokawaii Tour, but the run was canceled shortly before its planned August launch.

North has continued releasing material despite the canceled tour. Earlier this month, she shared the horror-inspired video for “Aishite,” a track from N0rth4evr, giving fans another look at the darker visual style surrounding her current music.

The Starbucks plan adds a different dimension to a career that has unfolded in public from an unusually young age. For now, North appears intent on balancing everyday teenage experiences with a music career she is already treating as serious work.
