Sidney Starr is preparing to ask a Fulton County judge for release after spending weeks in jail while facing multiple felony charges involving a minor.

Sidney Starr is set to return to court on August 25 as the reality television personality seeks bond in her Georgia child sex assault case. Starr, whose legal name is Sidney Favors, has remained in custody since her August 2 arrest in Hapeville, with court records cited by People listing charges of sexual battery against a child under 16, aggravated child molestation and sodomy.

Starr’s legal team has asked a Fulton County judge to set a reasonable bond, arguing that she is not a flight risk and does not pose a danger to the community. Reporting on the filing says the defense pointed to Starr’s longtime ties to Chicago, her work in television, her lack of a criminal history and her financial circumstances while requesting pretrial release.

The case stems from an alleged incident at an Embassy Suites hotel in Hapeville on August 2. Hapeville police said officers investigated a report involving a juvenile before taking Starr into custody, while authorities have limited the information released publicly because the case involves a minor.

According to arrest-warrant information reported by People and Atlanta News First, investigators allege Starr admitted to performing a sexual act on the boy while describing the encounter as consensual. Those allegations have not been proven in court, and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office is handling the prosecution.

Starr has publicly denied the accusations and said she intends to fight the case through the legal process. In a statement issued after her arrest, she said she “unequivocally denies the allegations against her and intends to vigorously defend herself through the legal process,” while also urging the public not to treat allegations as established fact.

The August 25 appearance now puts the focus on whether Starr can secure release while the criminal case proceeds. She has been held without bond at the Fulton County Jail, and the upcoming hearing could determine whether that status changes as prosecutors and the defense move into the next stage of the case.
