OG 3Three remains in federal custody after prosecutors challenged a $200,000 bond order and secured a new hearing before the judge overseeing his case.
OG 3Three, whose legal name is Roderick Jean-Pierre Jr., was granted a $200,000 bond on Friday, September 18. Complex reports that federal prosecutors immediately asked for the release order to be stayed so the decision could be reviewed by U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton.
Judge Tipton agreed to keep the release on hold and scheduled a hearing for Wednesday, September 23. Both prosecutors and the defense are expected to present arguments over whether Jean-Pierre should remain detained while the federal case moves forward.
Prosecutors allege Jean-Pierre aided and abetted a robbery involving AllStar JR that later escalated into gunfire at Confessions Restaurant in Houston. The government has argued that he presents both a danger to the community and a flight risk, citing the April incident along with previous arrests and alleged problems complying with earlier bond conditions.
The defense disputes the government’s account of Jean-Pierre’s role. His attorney has argued that OG 3Three was present but did not participate in the robbery, and that he threw four punches during a later fight before leaving the area and was not present when NBA Ben10 was shot.
The bond fight is the latest development after OG 3Three and NBA Ben10 were reported arrested earlier this month in connection with the Houston investigation. They face federal allegations tied to interference with commerce by robbery and the brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence.
No final ruling on OG 3Three’s release had been made as of Tuesday, September 22. The September 23 hearing is set to determine whether the earlier bond order will stand or whether he will remain detained as the case proceeds.
