King Kami’s Rise: From Poetry Pages to Purpose-Driven Rap

King Kami, born Ryan Williams, has been writing since elementary school, first expressing himself through poetry before ever stepping into a booth. Writing became therapy early on, but as an athlete most of his life, he didn’t initially see music as a serious path—until 2009-2010, when the passion started turning into something real.

In 2011, he officially introduced himself to the underground world with his first mixtape release, “Real Recognize Reez,” which gained traction online and helped establish his foundation as an independent artist.

By 2017, Kami shifted into grind mode, releasing three music videos—“In My Bag,” “Feel Good,” and the “Don’t Run” Remix—while also appearing in multiple other visuals, including the “Show Love Cypher” hosted by Blackman103. He stayed consistent on SoundCloud, building a growing fanbase through frequent releases.

In 2018, he followed up with “Real Recognize Reez V2” on MyMixtapez and SoundCloud, continuing to sharpen his sound and expand his reach. As his career developed, he became ASCAP affiliated and took his brand seriously, launching his first clothing drop featuring hoodies, t-shirts, and dad hats—which sold out completely.

Kami continued proving his versatility in 2020 with “Company,” featuring Bridgeport artist Gimmie2Loud. In 2021, he linked back up with his brother Blackman103 for “Lord Knows,” leading to their collaborative album “COLDEST HEART,” released on Thanksgiving and available on streaming platforms.

He also made a powerful statement with “RIOT,” a Black Lives Matter-inspired record featuring Zenire, produced by PearlyDonDada, and engineered at his home base studio HIFY in West Haven, CT—complete with a visual release.

In 2022, Kami hit one of the biggest moments of his secular career, opening up for Jack Harlow, Tory Lanez, and The Migos during Super Bowl Weekend in Tampa, Florida. He kept the momentum going with records like “Petty” and “Blaow,” later dropping “Raig” in 2023 featuring Squeeze Banzz. That track became part of his 2024 project “PROJECT 24,” which included a music video for “Naw Fr” on his YouTube channel, King Kami Official.

Everything shifted after his salvation on April 27th, 2025, when he transitioned fully into Christian hip hop. Soon after, he released his 5-track project “I Understand It Now” (May 12, 2025), and continued his new era with the 2026 single “Tweakin.”

With original lyrics, undeniable cadence, and real substance behind every bar, King Kami is proving he’s more than just talented—he’s an artist with purpose.
